2023 Tuscany Workshop Student Slideshows

What a great week we had in the Val d’Orcia of Tuscany! Some warm sun, cool evenings and a few showers that always seemed to happen when we were inside rather than out made for a fantastic time to develop new friendships, make great photographs and learn about the process of telling a story with our images. From our home base of Pienza, we fanned out across the area to places like San Quirico d’Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, Castiglione d’Orcia, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino and more. Over the week, I as new and existing skills combined to make some really fine photographs that tell a story about this unparalleled section of Tuscany.

2023 Puglia Workshop Student Slideshows

Warm sun and cooling breezes greeted us for a spectacular week of exploring the southern Italian region of Puglia (and a brief trip to neighboring Basilicata) with our cameras. From the mind-boggling antiquity of Matera to the turquoise sea off the coast of Otranto, the stunning Baroque architecture of Lecce and the blinding white-washed city of Ostuni, we worked on telling the story of the south in pictures.

2022 Lakes Workshop Student Slideshows

The clear lakes of Como and Maggiore were the locations for my 2022 Italian Lakes Workshop. Sadly, our group was reduced by a few due to some unforeseen circumstances, but the small crew went forth and made great images. On Lake Como, we spent time in the towns of Varenna, Bellagio and, of course Como itself. On our way to Lake Maggiore and its amazing Borromean Islands, we made a stop in the Vallemaggia, located in the Swiss region of Ticino, where Italian is the main language and towering waterfalls mix with small villages with homes built with granite.
