A noted photographer and photo educator, Jeff has been photographing the architectural aspects and landscapes of Italy since 1989, exploring the visual splendor of its religious, public and vernacular structures. Jeff holds a both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Bennington College in Vermont.  Additionally, he attended Ansel Adams’ last photography workshop in Carmel, California in 1983, which planted the seed for these workshops.

His photographs of Italy have been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and are held in many public and private collections. In 2005, Jeff’s work was featured in the prestigious LensWork magazine.  Jeff is Professor Emeritus of Photography at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where he taught from 1984 to 2014. Jeff is the Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Society for Photographic Education and is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a certified Apple Teacher (though he knows Windows, too!).

He also hosts two popular podcasts about photography; Camera Position, a podcast about the creative side of photography, and the History of Photography Podcast.
