About Jeff Curto

A noted photographer and photo educator, Jeff has been photographing the architectural aspects and landscapes of Italy since 1989, exploring the visual splendor of its religious, public and vernacular structures. Jeff holds a both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Bennington College in Vermont. Additionally, he attended Ansel Adams’ last photography workshop in Carmel, California in 1983, which planted the seed for these workshops.
His photographs of Italy have been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and are held in many public and private collections. Jeff is Professor Emeritus of Photography at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where he taught from 1984 to 2014. He is also the Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Society for Photographic Education and is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a certified Apple Teacher.
Most fall semesters, Jeff serves as a faculty member for the University of Georgia's Cortona Studies Abroad program, teaching photography, videography and other arts-oriented courses.
He also hosts two popular podcasts about photography; Camera Position, a podcast about the creative side of photography, and the History of Photography Podcast. Jeff divides his time between Wisconsin & Michigan in the U.S. and Cortona, Tuscany, where he spends half the year.
